Discussion Assignment for my aging class The question is: What would you say to a terminally ill person that wants to end his or her life My response:I know that you may feel like life isnt worth fighting for anymore. I cant say that I know whats it is like to be terminally ill but I can say I know what it is like to want to end your life. Ive been there numerous times. Theres been times where I felt like I was a burden to people and everyone would be better off without me. Im here to tell you that no matter what you go through, youre not alone. Even when you feel like all odds are against you, just know that someone has saw your tears and heard your cries. Are you religious? If youre, listen to me when I say that prayer works. When the doctors says yes the lord can say no. When the doctors says no the Lord can step in a say theres away. There is a way. Think of all whats brought you this far and why youve held on for so long. You wont leave this Earth until the Lord has the final sayso. You know, somebody didnt make it today but you did. As long as you have breathe in your body, thats more than enough reason to push on. Did you stop the think about the people that will miss you dearly or the people you will miss dearly? What if you get better? Sickness is reversable, death is not. Once youre gone youre gone. Im not here to judge you but I am here to tell you that even when you dont believe in yourself, I do. I believe that youre a great person, a strong, great person that has much to offer. Dont let your illness dictate your life. Take control of these moments and cherish the breathe you have remaining in your body. Your playing small does not serve the world. I not only come to encourage you, I wish to listen, understand and learn from you. You have such a beautiful smile and spirit. Can I see you smile some more? May I hug you and pray for you and I ask that you pray for me? I promise you that it will get better. Yesterday is over, today is passing and tomorrow is a new day. I will expect to come back tomorrow and see you smiling and thriving, can I count on that? Great, I will see you tomorrow.
