Dissonance by the Glenn Branca Band Today, December 3, back in 1983 was a music-filled day for Atlantans. My group of friends started off with dinner at the North Avenue Pizza Hut where someone, and it wasnt me, decided as we were leaving that the remaining patrons needed to get in the holiday spirit so they put a couple of bucks in the jukebox and pressed White Christmas to play 15 or 20 times. We then proceeded to the Luckie Street version of the Metroplex to see the Circle Jerks on their Golden Shower Of Hits tour (opener was DDT). Afterwards, we headed to 688 for the only Atlanta appearance of the Glenn Branca Orchestra. In a crowd filled with hipsters like Mike and Missy Stipe, the reaction of the night went to Circle Jerk Keith Morris who I remember looking sort of dumbfounded at what he was seeing.
