Distribute your output but protect your input Whenever you have to deliver a finished product of Excel to someone then take a decision whether to send only resultant figures by using copy and values (paste special) but sometimes we wish that the user or reader should observe the methods/ tools used to get the results then you can simply share copy of original file, however, sometimes you need to deliver an output file where you cannot use copy & values because the user has to use it by editing data so how to save your inputs (formulas/ functions) it needs some efforts. Select the entire sheet then Ctrl + 1 to call Format Cells dialogue box go to Protection tab of the dialogue box and uncheck the Locked option. Then select cells having formula/ function to be hidden from view Ctrl + 1--> Protection--> Checked Locked & Hidden options. After doing this with all formulas/ functions need to be hidden go to Review tab of the sheet select Protect Sheet from Changes group give a password and you can check & uncheck options available there. Salve & Close file then reopen file to observe that the result will be displayed there even user can change data and inputs allowed to be entered. Place cursor at protected cells having formulas/ functions we wish to be hidden from view then you will note that only result is showing on the screen while formula/ function used behind such result is hidden (not showing in the formula bar). Furthermore many options have been dimmed due to protection of sheet it means user cannot do many things except if we have allowed in the protection sheet option.
