District 22 state Sen. Paul Schumacher of Columbus has a large lead over opponent Douglas Liewer of Columbus. Schumacher, the incumbent, has 79 percent of the nearly 5,000 votes cast so far. District 22 includes Platte County, most of Stanton County and northwest Colfax County. In District 24, which includes York, Seward and Polk counties, Mark Kolterman of Seward is leading Kirk Tesar of York 5,150 votes to 803. The winner will replace Sen. Greg Adams, who couldnt seek re-election because of term limits.
