District court is a pretty cool experience. I was not one of the chosen ones. They make it seem as though the jury is randomly selected. I must admit, I was believing that at first, and then with each passing half hour, I realized it was indeed, not as random as theyd like you to believe. It would seem to me that anyone with a dominant personality was not asked to stay. The day began with about 15-20 of us and they needed a jury of 7. There was a question/answer session and I was asked what was the best item on our menu, did I believe I could be fair to both plaintiff and defendant and also with Arts last name being Bouvier, did I wear a pill box hat. I find it VERY hard to believe that these questions were necessary to determine if I was capable of serving on the jury. This is what leads me to believe it was nothing but a formality. Here is a link to the case for which jury selection was happening. Now, you tell me if you think they didnt know everything they needed to BEFORE sunrise this morning.
