Disturbing. I see the request for English to be spoken at school as an effort to further the education of none English speaking children. The lessons are in English. The books are in English. Doesnt it make sense to attempt to move along fluency in the language students are being immersed in as helpful? American children are being taught that the American flag on a personal T-shirt is inflammatory in an American public school because other student are of a different nationality. And now asking none English speaking students make the attempt to immerse themselves in the language of the country the have chosen.to become a part of is offensive as well? Does that seem to you as a natural line of thought that you or I just being American in America is offensive to people who want us to change to accommodate them? It doesnt matter WHERE you go or move to...you HAVE to assimilate to the culture. Why is this any different? If I move to Mexico are all the residents around me going to be forced to learn English? Should I protest and file law suits demanding that they change to accommodate me? Or Thailand? Or China? Or Germany? It doesnt matter. If I move then it is my job to assimilate to my environment.
