Dit is een goeie: I fully agree with Lorraine Hamids response to the news about Christians fleeing Mosul: While I and many others are calling out the despicable treatment and killing of innocent civilians, I think its crucial to be consistent. Lets not leave out some other gangsters who use religion/political propaganda as cover to kill civilians, grab land and oppress other peoples. In particular, ISIS and their ilk. I am really tired of seeing the term islamist, muslim extremist, jihadist, muslim being used in reference to people who are simply blood thirsty gangsters who use force and fear to exploit power vacuums and oppress weaker groups. These people are simply like their gangster brethren in the Middle East and across the world who use terror and outrageous propaganda to further and justify their cause. They are chancing their arm for a quick buck, no matter what the consequences, and for now are getting away with it. Gangster mob rule has nothing to do with religion nor does it lead to humane outcomes. Ask anyone living in a ghetto run by a mob of whatever label anywhere in the world. ISIS and all mobsters actions should not be ennobled by the use of terms that associate them with religion or humanitarian values. Because these values are the very opposite of what they seek to establish. Religion and humanitarianism has the objective of empowering the weak and oppressed and enriching peoples lives with loftier goals than just grabbing land and stuff at other peoples expense. I wont go into whether or not there is consistency of how the labeling of violent groups of Muslim origin is the same as violent groups of non-Muslim origin, as thats really beside the point here. No one who kills innocent, unarmed civilians really has an eye on what God or anyone else is thinking. Theyre just in it for themselves at any price, have no moral framework and will use any cover to justify their actions. God and the power of people always catches up with the gangster, starting with people understanding that mob rule isnt really best for them in the long run. Heres to the end of gangster mob rule, wherever it may be.
