Ditto Steve! As a third generation ELHS grad - most of you know my dad John Findley Class of 1959 and some of you recall my grandma Rhoda Garlent Findley Class of 1931 - the ELHS Womens Golf Team one-woman gallery - Im one of the few in my family who left Michigan. After living in some very different locales in this great big world...nothing compares to my incredibly fortunate childhood in EL. When people ask where I live now and they say Oh Evanston, thats such a great college town... I reply No, not like East Lansing. Why is that? Of course Northwestern is an amazing university...but still somewhat separate from the town (with apologies to our Wildcat alumni friends). MSU was ROOTED in EL. A premiere Land Grant institution jokingly referred to as Moo-U (you U-M fans/alumni know what Im talking about) that truly reflected the best of Midwestern values back in the day. We flourished in an environment that really helped us GROW and THRIVE. And when we reflect on our pasts, we recognize that we all carry little seeds of that experience that we can plant elsewhere for others to experience. So what if that sounds a little corny...well, they grow a lot of crops in Mid-Michigan...including cool kids.
