Divali, the Festival of Light, will be celebrated by our Hindu Friends on Saturday, Nov. 2. It is a beautiful, holy festival which celebrates the triumph of light over darkness. On the evening of Divali, deyas (little clay pots filled with ghee or coconut oil) are placed all around Hindu homes and lit at sundown. Many non Hindu people share this beautiful tradition and also light up their homes. In public spaces you can see amazing displays of deyas in many different formations...trees, boats, animals, you name it. They are extraordinary. This year Divali falls about the same time as All Saints and All Souls Day, in the Christian tradition. let us all join hands in prayer and praise.
