Divination is trying to determine the future apart from the revelation of the Holy Spirit. Divination, like magic, is one of the dark arts of the Cosmic System, which attempts to discover hidden knowledge by interpreting omens or by supernatural powers. The vocabulary of divination is the vocabulary of the devil. It is full of lies. Those who practice divination, either giving or receiving, may become entangled in demonism, which is idolatry. Consequently, under the Mosaic Law divination was a sin that was equivalent to idolatry and punishable by death. The Bible does not prohibit astrology, but it does prohibit divination through astrology or any other means. Divination is the use of the devils lies to interpret the meanings of things and predict the future. Almost all astrology is divination because the devils lies are the basis for interpretation. Divination is an attempt to determine spiritual meaning apart from Biblical truth. Whatever is not from faith (Bible Doctrine) is sin (Romans 14:23b).
