Division Luke 12:51 “Suppose ye that I am come to give peace on earth? I tell you, Nay; but rather division” One day there will be universal peace on earth. Jesus will be King of the earth ruling with a rod of iron. This time coming is called the Millennial Reign of the Lord. It will last 1000 years. Then there will be a New Heaven and a New Earth. This reign of Christ will begin at His Second Coming sometime in the future. Many of the Jews, however, thought this time of peace and prosperity would ensue at His First Coming. They, many of them, expected their Messiah to conquer Rome, free them, and set up immediately His Kingdom on earth. They misinterpreted prophecy. He came the first time to be Saviour; He’ll come the second time to be Lord. He came the first time to rule in the hearts of men; He’ll come the second time to rule the world. It is now a time of division; there is coming a time of unity. The gospel that is being preached all over the world at this time is causing a division between people; for some want it and some don’t. The gospel of Christ is a gospel of love, sacrifice, holiness, service, and loyalty to the Lord; many neither want that life, nor the Lord. These folks are in love with their own desires, aspirations, and sins. They want no one rocking their boat, not even Jesus Christ. However, God’s people love Him, live for Him, serve Him, and look forward to His coming. So, there is a division. The division is between the ones that want Jesus Christ and the life He has to offer and those that don’t. Pastor Wilson 12-1-2014
