Do Georgists really not see the difference between a property tax and an income tax? This video does a great job explaining the problems were having because we dont sufficiently tax unearned land gains, so why not advocate that we directly tax those gains? Why suggest instead, near the end of the video, that the solution is a 6% property tax on land? Why the bait and switch, where the bait is effectively explaining the problem of not taxing economic rent/gain/income and the switch is advocating a property tax on land that both infringes on property rights and is unworkable under federal law? Is it assumed that the income tax we have now is the only one available, so that no other income tax will work?
