Do I sound a little peeved this morning? It is the Post Office where it started. I used to think a normal business norm was that the MORE business you do, the CHEAPER it becomes. Last night a gent bought two 1.5kg books. The individual sale P/p was quoted as £5 (£3.80 incurred to the PO). But when invoicing I checked for the combined cost, to offer discount, and it appears to me that if you have a 3kg parcel, the cheapest rate with the PO (I realise there are alternatives) is £12.98. This for an inland UK journey. I feel I must be missing something. If the PO rates now rival National Rail fares for their opacity. I shall not be surprised, merely disappointed. No doubt with the installation of water meters we will be able to apply the same logic to the supply of the most basic necessity of life.
