Do Not Get Tired 2 Thessalonians 3:13 What an incredible and encouraging exhortation we find in todays text! Here, God exhorts us through the pen of the apostle Paul to keep doing right even when we are tired, even when it is difficult, even when everyone around us might be cutting corners and taking the easy route. Our omniscient Lord knows that we, as fallible human beings, have a natural tendency to grow weary in our earthly walk. He knows that we face an uphill battle against the world, our flesh, and the devil himself. He knows that if we were to look at the examples of men and women all around us, we would see people who are driven by pragmatism rather than faithfulness. Yet, in the midst of it all, Gods Word encourages us to be not weary in well doing. No matter what anyone (or everyone) else is doing, do not get get tired of doing what is right. Do not blame your circumstances if you are beginning to grow weary and cut corners. Paul is an example of one who fought a good fight, finished (the) course, and kept the faith (2 Tim.4:7). He was a man who often could have blamed his circumstances as an excuse for giving in, but he never did. Do not get tired of doing right even though it is certainly easy to do so. Our bodies do not always feel like fighting for the truth and against error, and our culture is always pushing us to do the opposite of what God desires of us. The Christian life is a fight, a battle, and we are to war a good warfare as good soldiers of Christ, adorning ourselves with the armor of God (1 Tim.1:18; 2 Tim.2:3; Eph.6:11-18). The Lord will enable you to be faithful; simply rest in Him. Daily draw upon His sustaining power and abundant grace.
