Do You Know That The Courts In Rivers State Have Been Closed Since June 2014 ? News: 60 Magistrate Courts, all High Courts in 28 divisions under lock and key in #Rivers State since June 2014 till date. Yet nobody is concerned or bothered that the wheel of Justice is grounded and under lock and key because of Governors Amaechis intransigence and selfishness Let me break it down for people who may not understand the dire implication of this action Litigants who have grievances wont be able to do so because the courts are shut Prison Inmates and Accused persons who are in Rivers state prisons would continue to languish in prison and the their future and hope of leaving the prison yard look bleak because of one mans over bloated ego Then my learned brothers, that is Lawyers in Naija Parlance who eke out their living In Rivers state have been idle since June, some have fled the state to neighboring state in search of greener pastures while the rest who choose to remain have embraced poverty and penury because their source of income is under temporary suspension and the temple of justice which they are servants is under lock and key The Macabre dance happening in Rivers state Judiciary is a sad development and negates the principle of democrat and progressive that Governor Rotimi Amaechi represents Time for men of Good will to speak out against this anomaly and most especially, Nigerian Bar Association should take the fight to Amaechi and make him see reason why the courts in Rivers state should need to be functioning now
