Do You Wanna Dance? Englewood, NJ, 28 October 2014 Posted on October 29, 2014 at 14:31:46 by filledeplage – Beach Boys Britian Message Board They wanted to dance alright in Englewood... Bergen Performing Arts Center was a silent movie-vaudeville house, built in 1926. Ray Charles, Tom Jones and Willie Nelson, have played Bergen PAC. Tony Bennett, George Benson and Dizzy Gillespie lived in Englewood. Bergen PAC has a corner in the main lobby dedicated to him. Dizzys Corner. Bergen PAC also also has hosted 8 Grammy winning recordings in its theater, 4 HBO Comedy Specials. And it has its own Performing Arts School. It provides Hearing Assist systems, free of charge. Not bad for being built in 1926. It is the sort of theater with acoustics that beg for a capella. Italian for in the manner of the church, without instruments. Songs such as And Your Dream Comes True from Summer Days and Summer Nights...or Auld Lang Syne from the Christmas Album, or The Lords Prayer on Side B of Little Saint Nick, all coming to mind... Englewood was on its feet last night from the first note...always an indicator of a fabulous show! Do It Again Goin To The Beach Little Honda Catch A Wave Hawaii Surf City Surfin Safari Surfer Girl - danced by Mr. and Mrs. Mike Love. Mrs. Love wore a classic and fabulous cranberry side-ruched dress, doubtless one of her own designs. Kiss Me Baby Then I Kissed Her Dance, Dance, Dance In My Room Getcha Back Why Do Fools Fall in Love When I Grow Up to be a Man Darlin - lead shared by Cowsill and Foskett Be True to Your School - logos, personalized to NJ schools thrilled the crowd. Ballad of Ole Betsy Dont Worry Baby - Foskett on lead, alongside video slides, next to Carl, singing the same song in a great pink shirt ( real men wear pink!) from the 1980s. Little Deuce Coupe 409 Shut Down I Get Around Intermission California Dreamin Sloop John B Wouldnt It Be Nice California Girls Their Hearts Were Full of Spring - yes, a cappella! Big Brian Wilson plug for the stylistics of the vocal combo... The Warmth of the Sun Disney Girls 1957 - from 1972 Surfs Up God Only Knows - the Side B of Wouldnt It Be Nice on July 18, 1966 ( a very good day) and grew to be one of the greatest hits of all time and sung endearingly, by the late Carl Wilson. The tribute, in place since C50, still moves the audience...his voice hasnt ever left us. All This is That - from So Tough from Carl and The Passions (1972) written by Al Jardine, Carl Wilson and Mike Love. Pisces Brothers - tribute to George Harrison Good Vibrations And Dennis...something different from C50. Old standard definition, black and white video clips with Dennis doing the lead for Do You Wanna Dance! Wow! Dennis looks about 19 years old, flailing wildly at the drum kit and doing the lead for us! It captures that young hot surfing Beach Boy! And the second Dennis - Dennis Diken! Powerhouse drummer, who founded the Smithereens! He is a fill-in DJ on WFMU. He hails from Carteret, NJ, and has performed with The Kinks, Suzanne Vega and Belinda Carlisle. And nice to see Cowsill get out on the frontline for Help Me, Rhonda! and Rock and Roll Music - if you wanna dance in Englewood! Barbara Ann Surfin USA Kokomo Fun, Fun, Fun Englewood loved you!
