Do Your Daily Attitudes and Actions Have the Potential of Impacting Eternity. Revelation22:12Behold, I am coming quickly, and My reward is with Me, to give everyone according to their work. In the final words of Revelation, God proclaims that He is going to reward His followers according to what they do. Your works do not secure your place in Heaven, but they do make a difference. Ifg there were neither Heave nor reward, it would still be worth it to follow Christ, but we get Jesus and all this too! God gives His reward according to our works. God offers His reward, which means it will be perfect. God could offer nothing less. It will also be personal; it will come from Him to you. This reminds of God’s promise in Matthew16:27“He will reward each according to his works.” If you are a follower of Jesus, He is coming to reward you. Come is one of God’s favorite words. Usually Scripture commands us to come, but in the case of Revelation 22:12, God Himself is coming quickly to reward His followers perfectly and personally. You may be asking, “What have I done to deserve God’s reward?” Ultimately you only hope is the grace of God. However, Scripture presents several reasons why you would receive heavenly rewards. You are rewarded for how you Share[Mark9:41For whoever gives you a cup of water to drink in My name, because you belong to Christ, assuredly, I say to you, he will by no means lose his reward.], Serve[Colossians3:23And whatever you do, do it heartily, as to the Lord and not to men, 24knowing that from the Lord you will receive the reward of the inheritance; for£ you serve the Lord Christ.], Sacrifice[Luke6:35But love your enemies, do good, and lend, hoping for nothing in return; and your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High. For He is kind to the unthankful and evil.] and Suffer [2Cor.4: 17For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, is working for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory,] Why does God reward you? The answer is simple. God rewards you so that He moight receive glory. Your rewards bring honor to Him. While Heavenly rewards are nice, they are not your to keep. Rewards give you the opportunity to give God glory He desires and deserves. Do you fervently want more than this world has to offer? Live today for the rewards of another world. Make this day have eternal significance.
