Do any actors want to be involved with a series of shorts being shot by students at Salford Universitys Media City Campus? Im helping a small team of student filmmakers to produce several short scenes in collaboration with the universitys school of nursing. The final films will be used to train nurses on the impact of receiving a long term diagnosis (in this case, a child being diagnosed with type 1 diabetes). They will also be shown at conferences all over the UK and (we hope) will be the start of many more projects like this. The films will be genuine, dramatic pieces that will help the students to engage and empathise with the characters, whilst also capturing the accuracy needed to be used as training material. Im helping with the script and to oversee the whole process, but youll mainly be working with the students, although I will be present on the filming days. Filming is scheduled for early evenings on Monday 10th, Thursday 13th and Friday 14th November, although you may not be needed for all 3 days. The films would be great as showreel material as Im sure the final films will be great quality. The hospital scenes will be shot in Salford Universitys dedicated ward training facility, so it will look very authentic. Its unpaid, but if you fancy it please let me know and Ill put you in touch with the students. They do have to audition as part of the process, so Im afraid I cant just cast people myself.
