Do any fellow music fans and record collectors remeber the V.M.Live series of records from the mid 90s? VM stood for Vindictives Music which referred to the Chicago band that ran the label. I owned a bunch of records from this series. They were live recordings of various levels of terrible recordings by some of the best underground bands of the era. I was listening to some Blanks 77s on Spotify and it had me thinking about those records and how it was genius from a business perspective. If I remember the insert correctly the recordings were done with one microphone located within the audience. The production costs must have been none, then they would be packaged in the most plain black and white packaging, and pressed on a plain black record with a black and white label. The retail price was needless to say standard price for a record, which amazingly still seems to be the retail price (what gives I feel terrible for the music industry), 3-7 bucks. Genius idea, I collected a lot of these but in retrospect what a bad buy from a consumer perspective. No one has even uploaded them to youtube. There were at least 36 of these records I can only find one on youtube apparently no one even wants them for free now. https://youtube/watch?v=t8L98rLC5c0
