Do most Calvinists share your view that Catholics are not - TopicsExpress

Do most Calvinists share your view that Catholics are not Christian? They surely do talk a lot about Jesus . They definitely believe he is The Lord. I dont know of any Calvinists personally who believe Roman Catholics are Christian i.e. that believing in Roman Catholic dogma will lead to salvation. Though I know of some who may share many of their moral concerns. There are a lot of cults like the Jehovahs Witnessses and Mormons who also talk a lot about Jesus but that does not mean we are talking about the same Jesus. These all share a common characteristic: they believe salvation is (at least partly) by human attainment not by Divine accomplishment alone. RCC is an entirely different belief system than Biblical Christianity... one that trusts in human merit and not in Christ ALONE for salvation. They may believe in the necessity of Jesus but not the sufficiency of Jesus ... in other words, after baptism, Catholics are required to maintain their own just standing before God, as if such a thing is remotely possible. Jesus is not enough in their view. But the Bible affirms that He is sufficient (Heb 10:10,14) and any good works from us are the result of salvation (Phil. 2:13; 1 John 5:1-4) not the cause of it. If we had to rely even partly on our good works for our right standing before God none of us would have hope, but must rely on Jesus alone (1 Cor 1:29-31). Thus Roman Catholicism is like every other religion in the world... based on moralism ... not on the gospel. The gospel is good news of what Christ has done for us, not what we do for him. He is the Savior, not someone who came to teach us how to save ourselves.
