Do not be wise in your own eyes; fear the LORD and shun evil. Know that God doesn’t have to answer you, but asking why demonstrates that you accept God’s sovereignty in your life. You’re not saying no, you’re simply saying “Father what is your plan for this crisis?” God will give you the wisdom in the situation if you can truly handle His answer. Remember Jesus’ prayer of desperation on the cross, “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?” David approaches the situation with Goliath leaving no room for glory to go to anyone but God. David refuses the Kings fighting attire, helmet, and body armor. Does God want David to look like Saul for this victory? God Himself has equipped David with everything He needs. The most important thing that David has is the Lord His God, the living God! David has courage to step out and fight because He knows His God goes before Him. No man, especially an overgrown Philistine, can face the living God and be victorious. This battle belongs to the Lord!
