Do not ever wait for your employer to move you around. You have - TopicsExpress

Do not ever wait for your employer to move you around. You have to go ask for it. Even then, you must be persistent. I can almost guarantee you that your company will not search resumes of existing employees for placement in positions around the world. They just dont do it. For example, I work for a company that has a forensics position in another state. I have the experience they are looking for. More than that, I have talent. But, they are not ever going to ask me if I am interested. Because, that is the problem with most companies. Most companies want employees who stay quiet and do what they are told. My problem is that I wont shut up and it usually ends in me quitting or being fired. I fear that my forensics days may be behind me. But, I at least have that as a skill set. I really dont want to leave Oklahoma for right now... unless the job pays a ton of money, even for the location. I am open to moving for the right price. But, here I am... looking... waiting... learning new things. BUt, for sure... I am greatful to even have a job right now. But that is not going to be enough. Also, you have to have balls and stick to your principles. I guarantee that it will be a rough road... my career has not always been easy; because, I have had to work around a lot of disingenuous and dishonest people. I held my principles firm. I took lower pay even being fired or quitting rather than be like those bad people out there. It resulted in me getting paid alot less these days than some of my peers. But, I wont go to the dark side. I just wont do it. I may die poor, but I will have never gone to the dark side of business. If my businesses had succeeded, the plan was to take more pay than my employees, but to profit share as much as I could whenever I could, and keep it privately owned. I will need more experience with managing my own personal projects before I can do that... because, as it is.. .I am one of those people who tells you things like they are. I wont bullshit... that is just not me. So, if you want to be in the money, you can kiss ass and be coporate and lie and backstab like some others do. But, as I work on my next idea in beat up blue jeans and tattered t-shirt, Ill look you dead in the eyes and know that I am working on my idea and you are working on someone elses idea. I would rather eat ramen noodles on my own chance to make a gogillion dollars for me and a team working with me than to enslave to someone else. I work in government work because I am a patriot. Not, because I am trying to get rich. But, in the end, it really comes down to being able to sleep at night. I have had some sleepless nights lately even body pain. I think a part of it has to do with not working on my own projects. I love the passion of discovery and experimentation. I get restless when bored... but I cant afford to walk away from that full time paycheck. Not now. Not in the Obama Depression of 2013. I talked it over with my GF. I am going to take a risk and get a monitor for that new laptop. Then, I am going to finish Karaoke Catalog, that I started 1 year ago. It weighs heavily on my mind. I have learned enough cooking for a year, that I can now say that I can cook. OK. But, that means I rededicate my time to my employer, slaving for them. And, I will work on my thing. I learned alot about program management over the last few years, by observing and listening. I am not ever going to be handed an opportunity. So, I am going to make my own way, part time. God help me. I have not even paid off my last 3 failed projects.
