Do not side with your detractors by giving up on what God showed you your life IS and/or WILL BE. Also, do not actively engage in BEING PITIED when you are GOING THROUGH SOMETHING because, often, people who PITY do not necessarily do it to HELP YOU. There is a difference between EMPATHY and PITY; the difference is in the MENTAL MOTIVE. One who EMPATHIZES wishes you well because they can VISUALIZE themselves in your place, a like place or worse...they WANT for you to DO WELL; COME OUT; RISE UP. But, one who PITIES may feel COMPASSIONATE for you, but, if not careful, takes the mental position of BEING ABOVE YOU and, thus, LOOKING DOWN on you; the PITIER has little to no real DESIRE to HELP YOU. It is only when PITY becomes EMPATHY that real connection can be made. Therefore, do not allow yourself to fall prey to BEING PITIED when you are doing something God told you to do and others do not see THE WHOLE SCOPE OF IT. If you do, before long, you will absorb that pity and start to FEEL SORRY FOR YOURSELF and NOT WALK IN FAITH.
