Do not use vodafone! Vodafone Australia must be the most unethical - TopicsExpress

Do not use vodafone! Vodafone Australia must be the most unethical company I have ever dealt with. A year and still going to try and cancel an account and Vodafone still expects us to keep paying and are chasing two people for the one debt and have given two of us a default! Last year we transferred an account from my name to my brothers. When he tried to cancel the account in October last year he was told he was unable to as it was still in my name. On my return from Europe in January I tried to cancel the account and was told I was unable to as the account is in his name. Back and forth we go. Still the account has not been cancelled a year on. After dozens of phone calls, store visits etc we still have had no help cancelling it. To top it all off Vodafone is saying the account is in my brothers name and I must pay his debt. Customer service say the debt is in his name and Collections say it is in mine. Today I went into the store as I was told I needed to go into and they would credit it. I went into the store. The girl whos name was Ashleigh was extremely helpful at Macarthur Square. So far she has been the only person who has been helpful. Unfortunately she did not have the authority to do what the call center had advised. Ashleigh spent quite some time on the phone and got us a bit further. When I got home I called and spoke to a manager in collections called Shane. He was the height of rudeness and arrogance. He kept talking over me even when I was asking him to please stop talking over me. I asked if I could speak to his manager and he advised me he did not have a manager or a boss. At first he told me the default was mine. He would not help me with my issues and said he would put me through to customer care to discuss the issues. He told me the default was mine, and said three times No way could the default not belong to me. It was definitely mine. He had not listened to a word I had said as this is my issue. Collections are chasing me for an account under Bradys name. Customer care have the account under his name and will not talk to me. He kept talking over me and saying he will put me through to customer care. I had to say to him in a very slow voice, Shane please listen to me they will not talk to me as the account is not in my name. Can you pleas talk to them? I had to repeat several times to him as he continued to talk over me. Throughout all this Shane kept telling me I should just pay the debt to clear my name. I asked him as I wanted to be sure are you saying I should pay a debt somebody else owes to clear my name. He confirmed that this was the only wasy to rectify the situation. To me this seems as though Vodafone are extorting money out of me. You put a default against my name for a debt I do not owe and will only clear it by me paying somebody elses debt. He confirmed several times this was the only way to rectify the situation. Eventually he did speak to customer care himself. He then called me back. He then denied all that he said in the prior conversation that the default was mine. He told me that the default was Bradys and always had been. I then asked why debt collectors where chasing me then. He said that should not happen. I asked Shane if he could contact the debt collectors that Vodafone used to tell them that the default was mistakenly put against my name. Shane advised that it was not his job or Vodafones job to contact the debt collectors. I had to do it. I tried to explain to him that this would not work as Vodafone were the debt collectors customer. He told me it was the only way it would happen because Vodafone would not contact the debt collector. Shane became rather aggressive, argumentative and confrontational at this point. I did not want to argue. I kept asking him to please just tell me the phone number for the debt collectors so I can call them. Shane I do not want to argue with you. Please just give me the number. Shane would not give me the number. I did not want to argue any more and I warned him I would hang up as I was not going to continue going in circles arguing. He continued to try and provoke me so I hang up. He called me back five times in a row. Each time when I answered I asked him to please just give me the number or we had nothing further to discuss. Shane continued to try and argue the facts with me. It was only after the fourth time of hanging up that he would finally give me the number for the debt collector. I called the debt Collector and spoke to Jasmine. She advised that there was a default under my name that Vodafone had enlisted them to chase. When I explained what Shane had told me she confirmed what I had thought. She was unable to cancel the default they had to chase with out contact from Vodafone themself. Jasmine was very helpful and unfortunately she was unable to rectify the issue for reasons that are completely understandable. So now I am left with a default against my name, my brother has a default against his name for the same debt, and we still have a phone accumulating a monthly bill for a contract we tried to cancel a year ago now. 0432740703 is the number this refers to. PLEASE CAN SOMEBODY HELP!
