Do not wish to face the enemy But if you had to, then face him - TopicsExpress

Do not wish to face the enemy But if you had to, then face him steadily. (a saying of the prophet Mohamad peace be upon him) When I started practicing Aikido, I was tempted by the brutality of this art, or so I thought. I couldnt practice it continuously due to several issues I faced through years, yet I remained attached to this art, watching, reading, dreaming, imagining, searching for a dojo to join whenever I could. Throughout these years of following up Aikido -to be more accurate rather to say practicing- I started to discover the essence of this art, even trying to connect it with the core of my religion Islam, the peace of mind that everybody is looking for, the ethics, the commitment, the respect, I can say that my understanding of Aikido gives me the guts to say it has a pure Islamic soul in its core. You practice to advance and develop, and to be ready anytime ready in your state of mind ready with your body ready with your soul, you practice so if you had to you would be able to face your opponent firmly, and maybe, just maybe if you were able to, you would do this with love, to brake his will to fight and then to reason with him, to solve the situation with the best terms. Im still far from applying these concepts even though I came to understand them this way, I have to conquer myself first, I have to.
