On Day Nine of the High Andes, Deep Amazon Tour, we woke up to a beautiful, sunny morning after a night of heavy rain at an isolated wilderness lodge on the Western Slopes of the Andes. As we made our way on unpaved roads, a bridge collapsed under a mudslide behind us. And ahead was a fairly substantial landslide blocking our way. We were able to work with locals to get help clearing the way for our bikes and support truck. But we had to cut our dirt riding short, taking a paved route instead to a comfortable 300 year old hacienda. Motorcycling in Ecuador is always an adventure - and being on a guided tour means we can get assistance and improvise alternative routes to keep everyone safe, happy and having an enjoyable time.
