Do we even DO Throw-Back-Thursdays here on the Buzz? I dont think we do, as a rule. I think I posted an old photo of me on a TBT a few months ago.... So, heres another one. Its me with legendary television and radio announcer ERNIE ANDERSON in Manhattans PLANET HOLLYWOOD Restaurant in 1993. We were both in New York for contract negotiations between the AFTRA performers union and the major television networks. Ernie was the primary announcer for ABC for nearly twenty years, from the mid-70s to the early 90s. His son is movie director PAUL THOMAS ANDERSON. Ernie passed away in 1997, just months before his sons first big hit movie, BOOGIE NIGHTS, was released. Paul put a tribute to his dad in the beginning of the end credits to the film. I hired Ernie as the announcer for HUNDREDS of major record album radio and television commercials in the 70s, 80s and 90s. He was a real character, and incredible talent. What a VOICE this guy had! I still miss the cantankerous old guy to this day, over twenty years after we last worked together. He was the BEST IN THE BIZ!
