Do we love enough to forget the world? But He said to them, I - TopicsExpress

Do we love enough to forget the world? But He said to them, I have food to eat that you do not know about. John 4:32 A few days back I called a friend to see if he had time for me to stop and visit and ask him a couple of questions. He said he had about 45 minutes he said, so I stopped in and after a few minutes of talking horses, off we went into our favorite subject – God and what He is doing in each our lives and different ideas and books and many other things about the Bible. Then finally after about three hours I said, “I think our half hour is up” and we laughed and I got my questions answered (he is an Apple guy, me PC – needed some apple advise in case no one was wondering). Later, when I got home my wife asked me, didn’t y’all get hungry? (it was lunch and after time & I had walked in starving) What popped out of my mouth was, “I have food to eat you know not of”. Surprised me and made us both laugh. First off, this does not make me ‘spiritual’ nor to I say it to brag; I share it to get the idea across that the Word should bring such joy and hold so much excitement for us that we can forget this world for a time. I can remember a time when Bible study was something I did because “I should”. There are many days I don’t get to spend the time I would like due to family, work, ranch, etc., but it is now something I feel “I get to do” instead of should or have to. I’m kinda slow and it has taken me a long time to get to this, so again I’m sure not super-spiritual. If you are young, let God be first now, if you are old, do it now because if you don’t it may never get done. We all need to spend the time with God that it takes to fall in love with Him where we love talking with Him and about Him. Ask a friend who loves to hunt about hunting and they will go on about it for hours, ask a friend who loves horses about them and they will go on and on about training and what this one or that one did, but if someone ask us about Jesus do we love Him and know Him enough to talk for hours about Him and what He is doing? These questions are NOT to make you feel guilty, but to encourage you if you need to fall more in love with Him to take that time and put the effort into the relationship. God loves you just at much right now as He ever has or ever will and nothing can change His love for you and I, but we sure can grow in our knowledge and understanding and love of Him. Take time for some spiritual meals and some snacks here and there too; you can eat all you want and not get fat, only healthier and in better shape in your Spirit filled Christian life.
