Do we really realise how lucky we are to be part of FINCHLEY ? I am 58 now, have several children & grandchildren. Spent 7 years in the Grenadier Guards have been to fantastic places Kenya, Germany, America & Australia. ...live now in Southgate. ...but... my heart will always be in Finchley. .. I lived at several addresses in Gods greatest town, but 5 The Rocklands was the best ...Situated in Gordon Road which runs along the bottom of Lansdowne Rd, Grosvenor Rd, Eversleigh Rd, Elm Park Rd & Dollis Rd & has Nether Street running along the top of them. .. Dollis Brook & the woods were our playground...not a shop in sight, that was a trek up Lovers Walk...had many friends Tony Howe, Dave Baker, Chris Owers, Noel Harvey...also many beautiful girls Lindsey Baker, Jane Dugdale, & Arn & Eileen ONeill & many many more. Going to the Church in Long Lane which doubled as a club..going as age crept in to the Con, Cha, Phonograph, Wilmott, Birds Nest & even the Sundown in Edmonton. All dressed in Levis Loafers Ben Shermans Stay Press 2 Tone DMs Braces Brogues Afghans Crombies Harringtons Braces....nothing fazed us, we found love, lost it...wouldnt change it for the World... Finchley the Greatest ever Town...
