Do we respect our Martyr Sailors? It is an agreed fact that Sailors Institute, Mumbai is a matter of pride for Indian Naval Sailors forever. It has the stories of several moments of joy, sorrow, entertainment, friendship, depression, homesick, celebration, stress, etc, etc. This is heard from the time since we were in Navy that the Officers are playing crooked politics to get the building as their own so that it could convert to an Officers Institute at the heart of Colaba. But due to the active oppose by the family who donated the land freely to Indian Navy to make that building exclusively for Indian Naval Sailors in memory of their family member who was an Indian Naval Martyr, the plans went in vain. Now it is came to know that the top floor is allocated for retired Officers and their family. It shocked us a lot. The Sailor’s Institute is intruded by Officers and the pride of Sailors and Ex-servicemen is at stake. We are not sure that till to date any of the serving or Ex-sailors opposed against it. The inspiration behind this post is a combined response from some of our Ex-servicemen here as they started this subject of oppose. Please share your views and ideas. If we are wrong please update me about the subject. There is no history available regarding the acquisition of land on which the building is made as evidence with us. In view of the above, following options are appended below:- 1. File an RTI (Right to Information) to Indian Navy PRO with specific questionnaire about the history about the Donor, Exact purpose for which the land donated, etc. 2. Forward a mass appeal together at a pre-planned time by all Ex- Sailors questioning this matter to respected Defense Minister, CNS, FOC-in-C (West), COMBRACKS and Officer-in-Charge (Sagar) Is it possible to create a change or even a wave of anger
