*Do we understand how serious unfaithfulness to God is? He compares it to an unfaithful spouse or unfaithful children who essentially disown their parents! Knowing God is not about having a better life. It is about having life at all. If we reject Him we may find a little comfort and satisfaction in this short life, but eternity will be void of all joy and filled with suffering that never ends. But as many as receive Him, He receives them as His children who will be with Him forever! ‘Come back, unfaithful people of Israel,’ says the Lord. ‘I will stop being angry at you, because I am full of mercy,’ says the Lord. ‘I will not be angry with you forever. 13 All you have to do is admit your sin— that you turned against the Lord your God and worshiped gods under every green tree and didn’t obey me,’” says the Lord. 14 “Come back to me, you unfaithful children,” says the Lord, “because I am your master."
