Do you agree? Im not so sure a lack of universities in these areas is keeping students from going to uni as most students prefer to go to one out of their area and more often than not to an exciting well known city with a great social scene and buzzing nightlife. The Cold spots are more rural, agricultural areas so perhaps they wouldnt hold much appeal for our youngsters wanting to enjoy their first taste of freedom, even if there were plenty there. Personally, I think it may have more to do with local economy and job opportunites. Also, perhaps the lower rate of local students going to uni in places where there are lots of them suggests that one of the main reasons to go to uni is already on their doorsteps. Our teens go off to university for many reasons, education is only one of them! On the flip side, building universities could help boost local economies and investment in affordable homes? What do you think?
