Do you believe in miracles? Do you feel that it would take a miracle to make your life ok after all that has happened? Well here is the thing. Life IS a miracle. Many years ago I was a young, newly married woman. We had decided it was time to start a family and took for granted that we would easily fall pregnant - as you do when you are twenty something! After more than a year of trying I found myself facing what felt like a very break and child-less future. At that time I used to find myself walking down the street and everywhere I went I would feel such amazement at the life I saw. Young mums walking around pushing babies in prams, toddlers rushing about gleefully, people with children of all shapes and sizes. And I would look at them all in utter amazement that they had been given this miraculous gift. Up until that time I had taken for granted the idea that I would be a mother. But suddenly I began to grasp that this is an every day miracle. I did in the end fall pregnant unexpectedly (ten times in all!) and each time I felt such a sense of awe over this incredible blessing of new life that was granted to me, and while those barren years were very painful for me, I so appreciated the awareness they left me with of understanding that much of life really IS a miracle, Never take that for granted. The sun rising each morning is a miracle. The possibility of new life is a miracle. Each healthy baby born is a miracle. Recovery is a miracle. The fact you are still here is a miracle. The fact that you are reading this is a miracle. YOU are a miracle. I believe in miracles because I am one. Thats not an arrogant statement but the plain honest-to-goodness truth. I used to be so messed up. So damaged. So beside myself. So traumatised. But in recovery God worked a miracle in me and now I walk free. More than a survivor, a thriver. I hope that you too will come to appreciate what a miracle you are and what miracles await you as you give yourself permission to heal and to ask God to heal you, restore you, transform you and work a miracle in you.
