Do you care about the cost of your tuition? It could be going up drastically for some programs at MRU. Your chance to talk to MRU is now! Your student executives only just received confirmation yesterday that there will be a student consultation taking place in regards to Market Modifiers being implemented at MRU. MRU President David Docherty and VP Administrative Services Duane Anderson will both be presenting and answering questions. This consultation is booked to take place in the Leacock Theatre for Thursday, October 2nd from 2:00pm-3:30pm. If you are a credit student, you should attend! If you are in Nursing, Business or Science, you should attend. Market modifiers are degree-specific tuition increases tied to the perceived market value of certain degrees. This means that some students may pay more for taking a certain degree than other students would for taking a different degree. (For example, U of C business students pay about $200 more per course than someone taking an Arts degree). According to an August 2014 CBC article, the University of Alberta students union said some faculties at the school saw tuition rise by more than 66 per cent.
