Do you even Get Up? Some of you may have heard of the Turkish Get Up but for those who havent, here are some of the many benefits this fantastic movement has to offer: As well as improved overall strength development, balance, flexibility and skill, the Turkish Get Up also helps with - Improved hip and shoulder mobility and stability - Strength development of your core muscles - Grip strength - Increased shoulder range of motion (good for injury prevention/rehab) - Improves overall posture The Turkish Get up is also a tri-planar movement (the body moves in three dimensions based on a series of planes and axis) so most exercises youre either pushing, pulling, squatting or hinging but only in one plane of motion, the TGU hits all three planes at once! Before trying this movement I would advise practising KB swings, waiter walks and KB arm bars, before attempting the TGU.
