Do you ever feel all alone in the world? All is quiet. Everyone has his or her own life to live. I feel completely alone but everyone else is doing the same? It causes me to fear for all the people I love. Here, it is cold. Raining, today. Dreary. The electrician is downstairs. The water pump, burned until it is not recognizable, has just been brought to us. It has to be replaced. Tanesco, the electric company turns off the electricity – daily and is probably responsible for us not having water, and for the destroyed pump, because it turns off power whenever it wants to and much damage is done. There is no one to help. Bad situations just have to be accepted and paid for. No one seems to care.( I insert. Francis just arrived. Now where the new water has been installed, we have a leak. Where we didn’t have water, now we have lots of water that we do not want. He is on his way back to stop the water. We called this morning because we had no water.) That is life. I sat over an hour yesterday at Tanzanian Revenue Authority, waiting for my car driving registration paper license to be put on my windshield. I do it every year at this time. They had lost my papers. So I had to sit and wait for over an hour while my papers were reprocessed and the paper license was redone, while I waited. It was brought to me, so that I could go to the local insurance agency (it means nothing to have insurance) but it has to be done and posted on my car for a year, so that when I am stopped as I am almost every day, I will have the written credentials in plain view on my windshield, so that I will not be fined or arrested. Life here is interesting. I am learning, and being taught, patience. If you are quiet, all works to your benefit. So there is no use in ever showing frustration. Just accept whatever comes your way. It does no good to want things to work well. Life goes on in spite of what it deals you. Play the hand dealt. It’s really not worth wishing life would make sense. The Bible says, “In whatever circumstance, be content.” I am learning. I am becoming Tanzanian.
