Do you ever get daunted by the sheer cost of living? The bills - TopicsExpress

Do you ever get daunted by the sheer cost of living? The bills are endless: power, gas, rates, phone, insurances, superannuation, groceries, petrol, clothes, household maintenance. You do realise that household appliances are evil; they are in cahoots; they collapse and die in sequence demanding immediate replacement. And then theres the cost of kids! To deliver all this requires a level of commitment and stability over decades. I think 20-somethings might be a tad daunted by the prospect of it all. How long does it take to save for a house? When can they start a family? If its all too hard perhaps other life choices might become more attractive? Why save for an impossible future dream; why not spend savings now and enjoy the moment? Maybe we need to think about what is and what is not possible over the course of a working life and either deliver and share more prosperity or recalibrate our expectations of the great Australian dream.
