Do you ever meet people who seem to have God all figured out? They are typically very dogmatic and make many unilateral statements of what God is and is not, what He likes and does not and seem to know exactly who the truly spiritual people are. It is amazing that we can make the assumption that we have a grasp on the infinite God. We know Him because He has revealed Himself to us through the Lord Jesus Christ not because of anything that we have done to discover Him. God is bigger than my brain. I am going to go out on a limb and say that God is bigger than your brain too. My intellect does not need to comprehend God and neither does yours. If it were possible for us to understand Him, to explain Him, to define Him, to measure and standardize Him, He would not be God. Does this mean that doctrine and discipleship are irrelevant? Absolutely not! God has revealed Himself to humanity through His Word and through His Son, the Lord Jesus Christ. We can know Him; but He is bigger than our brains. We will never have Him figured out. We will always discover something new about Him. What we see now is like a dim image in a mirror; then we shall see face-to-face. What I know now is only partial; then it will be complete as complete as God’s knowledge of me. (1 Corinthians 13:12)
