Do you ever wonder what goes on during the day at Safe Animal Shelter? Its always interesting. Every day we clean the entire shelter. It takes four hour for five staff members to get everything cleaned up and spiffy. If we have volunteers helping, it takes a little less time and lets us do special projects, dog training, and some cat enrichment. We love our volunteers! At any time during our normal work day, we can get people in the shelter wanting to surrender animals, asking questions about volunteering, adopting, or community service. Yesterday we had a US Marshall come in, he had found a kitten on I295 who had been thrown out of a car. We stopped everything to get the little guy to the vet for evaluation and treatment. Add in vet appointments, adoption counseling, intake evaluations, direction giving, cleaning up gifts from our charges, and phone answering, it makes for a busy day! Its ok though, we all love our jobs, our critters, our volunteers, and our donors. You guys are why we work hard every day, and we sure do appreciate it! Oh, and for those who wonder, Blanco the kitten will eventually be fine. He has some damage to a hind leg, some head trauma, and is pretty unhappy right now. A little time and some pain management, and this cute white kitty with one blue eye and one green eye will be up for adoption too!!!! Many thanks to our community for everything!!!! You give time to help our pets have better lives, you donate money to pay our vet and electric bills, you donate food and treats so our critters can eat and snack, and you offer moral support for those bad days. We are here because of you, and we cant begin to offer enough thanks!
