Do you have a lot of unwanted clothes, shoes, purses, or plastic toys laying around and dont want the hassle of a garage sale? You can help animals in the wild! Your Topeka Zoo is participating in a program called Jeans for Giraffes. How? Bring any of the accepted items and place them in the bin. Shut the lid and walk with pride. You have just kept those items out of the landfill, donated most items to someone in need, recycled worn out items into insulation products or new textiles, AND donated to conservation efforts in the wild. And YOU made this all possible just by making some extra room in your home. What happens now? Resolution Reuse will pick up the items and pay your Topeka Zoo per pound of donated items. They will then sort and redistribute items so that they are donated to those in need or turned into insulation and other recycled materials. The money collected through this project will be redirected to conservation efforts for animals in the wild. So bring in your unwanted items during your next visit and feel good about that extra space!
