Do you have all your holiday shopping done? Many early Cuyahoga - TopicsExpress

Do you have all your holiday shopping done? Many early Cuyahoga Falls residents did their Christmas shopping at Loomis Hardware, which was located on the northeast corner of Front Street and Portage Trail. This Victorian-era advertising trade card for Loomis Hardware showcases the store’s extensive offerings. If you still have a bit more shopping to do I recommend a visit to the Cuyahoga Falls Historical Society museum, 2083 Cook St. The museum, which will be open this Sun., Dec. 21 from 2 to 4 p.m. and Mon., Dec. 22 from 9 a.m. to noon, has a gift shop that sells several local history books, including the Bicentennial history of Cuyahoga Falls, “Memories of an Akron Christmas” and two Arcadia Publishing books about early amusement parks including “High Bridge Glens of Cuyahoga Falls” and “Silver Lake Park.” The museum is also selling several past Oktoberfest mugs and commemorative plates from local churches. While you’re there, don’t forget to enjoy the wonderful vintage displays. If you love the seeing the old photos on FB pages like this one, you’ll love seeing the images and displays at the museum. Admission is free. The museum is conveniently located off E. Portage Trail. Just drive east on Portage Trail. After you cross Newberry/Munroe Falls Avenue, Cook Street will be the third street on your right. Turn right and drive a few hundred feet. Parking is available in front of the museum, as well as in the rear parking lot.
