Do you know a Veteran who does not have health insurance? Under the new Health Care Law, eligable Veterans who have enrolled for Health Care with a VA Medical Center are considered covered. There are three primary gateways to VA Healthcare. Each is independent of the other, so if you qualify under one, you do not have to qualify under another. Service Connected Disability: Any medical condition, physical or mental, connected to your military service that negatively impacts your life today. Veterans must file for and receive a rating Special Programs: These include but are not limited to: Vietnam Boots on the Ground, Desert Storm --Aug. 2, 1990 - Nov. 11, 1998, former POW, Purple Heart recipients, and Veterans with ALS. Income Threshold: This varies by place of residence. Based on Annual Gross Household Income, Residence location, number of dependents and unreimbursed medical expenses.
