Do you know that sin lives in the heart before it ever is acted upon. It is a thought or a desire or a motive or the lack of it. Sin is a condition of the heart sins are born out of sin. The heart is full of it. The heart is deceitful above all things, because we can deceive ourselves into thinking that we are good in the sight of a holy God. The heart is desperately wicked because it come up with ever reason to deny our true condition that we are creatures that need to be unconditionally loved because if not for that then we are altogether unlovable. If you disagree with this Learn a lesson from the prophet Isaiah. He thought he was a good man until he saw a vision of the Lord in all his holiness. Then his perception of himself changed dramatically.[ He said, “Woe is me, for I am undone! Because I am a man of unclean lips, And I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips; For my eyes have seen the King, The Lord of hosts.” But he was not doomed. Isaiah 1:5] God was not angry with him because there was one coming who would take away his sin and whose blood would speak in his defense. It is only when you see God as he is that you can see yourself as you are and therefore realize that you need a savior. It was also Isaiah later in chapter 53 who prophesied of the Savior that was to come. The bible says that God resists the proud but gives grace (unmerited favor) to the humble. It is not the proud in spirit but the poor in spirit who inherit the Kingdom of God. Isaiah was poor in spirit. He knew that he was desperately in need of a savior.
