Do you know the leadership principle known as the « law of navigation »? It’s summarized by “anyone can steer the ship, but it takes a leader to chart the course”. I’ve done two cruises and each time it was the captain and his crew that chartered the course. Before we ever left port, he was knowledgeable of the destination, he knew what his crew needed to reach the objective and he was able to recognize and identify the obstacles and pitfalls before they appeared on the horizon. Leroy Eims was right when he described a leader as “one who sees more than others see, who see farther than others see and who see before others do”. So in your life, are you a passenger on someone else’s ship or are you a leader and part of the crew?
