Do you know what Central Outreach & Advocacy Center does? There are an estimated 20,000 people experiencing homelessness in Atlanta and even more families teeter on the brink of losing their homes. Last year, we helped 5,456 Georgians who were homeless or near-homeless in metro Atlanta. Of those people, 2,534 were folks that needed help obtaining birth certificates, legal documents, and state ID cards necessary to access vital services like housing, healthcare and employment in Georgia. In partnership with the Shrine of the Immaculate Conception, we provided access to over 30,000 pounds of groceries for 1,327 families. Through other partnerships we were able to offer medical treatment to 525 guests, eyeglasses and free eye exams for 354 guests, and dental treatment for 309 people. Our Main Frame job readiness program equips individuals to find work that fits their skill set. We teach computer skills, help craft resumes, and conduct practice interviews to ready our guests for finding jobs. We also provide a well-appointed computer lab that’s open all day to Main Frame students past and present. Imagine trying to make a resume and apply for jobs online with only one hour on a public library computer! Come in and find the help you need or volunteer with us to make a real difference in the lives of your neighbors.
