Do you like Swan Lake? I do. Here is a brief synopsis of music and dancing in Act II. At this point in Swan Lake the prince enters and finds the swans. Siegfried is in awe of the beautiful swans. The Swan Queen sees the prince and she flutters her wings to the harp. She descends à terre, and rises with him in a series of pirouettes. The pas de deux begins to the music of harp, violin, and viola. A thematic transition follows where the woodwinds enter in; flutes, fagottino, clarinet and oboe. The companion swans begin to dance along. Afterwards the pas de deux continues and Siegfried lifts Odette in a series of playful enlèvement to viola solo and pizzicato strings. Later the cello plays solo con molto espressione and it has become obvious that The Swan Queen and the prince are completely in love. At the end the music moves toward resolution as Odette pirouettes. The final position is Siegfried supporting Odette en arabesque étirée. The audience is delighted.
