The water that comes out of your tap, that you drink, that you feed your kids, your pets and water your plants with, comes from Woodburn dam. InfraStrata are about to start construction of a drill site 400 metres from the dam. The methods used to extract the gas by their very nature involve pumping toxic chemicals into the ground to break up the shale beneath. Once those chemicals are in the soil they cannot be controlled and will seep in all directions, poisoning our own water supply, ...400 metres away... It doesnt stop at one either, if it becomes viable to drill then to make a profit there needs to be dozens of wells. ...this is only a tiny province. It will take very little time to ruin our water and environment. This leads to health issues, higher costs of living and less jobs here as tourism, agriculture and multiple other industries here are heavily negatively impacted.
