Weve posted many videos, photos and articles here to educate people AGAINST elephant trekking, giving money to street-begging elephants, photo-ops with captive elephants, and any elephant tourism *other than* photo or tourist safaris through their natural habitat. Those industries are what cause elephants like Raju and thousands more to SUFFER. We posted an article 2 days ago against street photo-ops. Were saddened to have read - and needed to reply to - this kind of comment (name redacted): I am sorry but i have done this just because i love them so much and need to be close I realize it is NOT GOOD but i enjoyed the experience xx Our reply: I hope you never do it again, [name redacted]. If you do, youre contributing to wild elephant mothers being killed to steal their calves, sell them into the tourism trade, to those babies being cruelly broken during the phajaan process, and a lifetime of trauma, abuse, deprivation and misery - so you could have a ride on an elephant. We all love elephants but love does not equal abuse.
