Do you really believe the Moorland Commission put in place by Governor Cuomo to fight corruption is going to work? I don’t believe it for a second. When I found out that Cuomo appointed NY state Attorney General Erik Schneiderman to lead the Commission I wrote to him about the on going development of the 308 acres in Arverne Rockaway Beach. Queens, NY. I explained in my letter how the state Coastal Management Program, CMP, has failed to check on the development. National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, NOAA assigned CMP to supervise the project. NOAA gives CMP millions of dollars each year to make sure that developments in Coastal Zone Boundaries conforms to the rules and regulations set forth in the Coastal Zone Management Act of 1972, CZMA. CPM failed to supervise but even worse allowed the developer to SELF CERTIFY his own development. As a result the developer is developing and breaking all the rules laid out in the CZMA. I also pointed out to Schneiderman that Mayor Bloomberg approved the project to go ahead knowing that the developer’s plans would be breaking the rules. I also pointed out to Schneiderman that there is no recording on city records of any money paid for the 308 acres. It is also rumored that Mayor Bloomberg handed over the 308 acres for no money to a politician to get that politician to endorse him for mayor. Schneiderman’s office said they looked over my complaint and decided that they were not going to investigate it at this time. Is it to big to investigate? We are talking about taxpayers money in the billions. What gives here Governor Cuomo?
