Do you recall the Robin Wright mostly-animated film, The Congress? - TopicsExpress

Do you recall the Robin Wright mostly-animated film, The Congress? One main theme of the movie was that actors can be digitally-recreated so that they do not have to actually act: CGI does it all. Philip Seymour Hoffman died at a very inopportune moment*, and there had been talk of doing a digital re-creation of him for his missing scenes, a la The Congress. This wasnt done, though: The script was re-written to work around his absence. (I know that its common practice for producers to purchase insurance to cover problems in which actors are unable to fulfill their roles after filming has started. I dont know whether Hoffman was insured in this manner.) (*But then, is there ever really an opportune moment, when one is not aged or otherwise terminally-ill, to die?)
